Just contacting the folks to find out how to submit a script is a bit of a story.
I had no idea where to start. I'd tried writing the official fan club which I belong to. However I never got a reply.
So I picked up the phone and called Information. I got the phone number for the Indianapolis Fox TV station which carries ST:TNG. I called them and reached a receptionist. I described what I was calling about and she transferred me to the station's program manager.
The program manager had no idea how to submit scripts to the show. But what she did do was give me the address for Paramount Domestic Television, the organization which produces all Star Trek television shows now.
I didn't really want to spend forever writing letters to Paramount and maybe or maybe not getting replies. So, I looked up the area code for Los Angeles and called Information. I asked for the phone number for Paramount Domestic Television. Surprise, surprise, there actually was a listing.
I finally got my courage up enough to call. I expected some sort of call management system. You know, "If you're a star, press "1" now. If you're not a star hang up." I actually reached a person and started on my story for what was by now the third time.
As soon as the words "Star Trek" got out of my mouth, he said "Hold on." There was a click, a pause, some more clicks and than a phone ringing. After just a couple of rings, someone picked it up and said "Star Trek." A person!
I didn't get very far into my description when she explained what she could do for me. They have an automated response line to handle this very question. She gave me the phone number so I could call it directly later if I wanted to. She then transferred me to the number and I got a recorded message which described the process to get the script submission package.
It's amazing what a little determination and a telephone can accomplish.
